April and Sean are the sweetest couple! The love they have for each other can be felt
when you’re around them. They have known each other since their teenage years when
they met at Korean school. They have been dating since 2013 and I had the honor of
being their photographer at their Savor at the River House wedding!
The Gorgeous Wedding Day
Their wedding day could not have been more perfect! Savor at the River House in
Louisville, Kentucky is such a luxury style venue! The weather was beautiful and the
wedding timeline was amazing! I love it when my couples allow me to have extra time
during the day for detail and portraits. We were able to capture so many more images
and the day felt amazingly peaceful. There were times I would look at my watch thinking
we must be running short on time, only to see we had an extra 20 minutes to spare!
April and Sean shared a first look before their wedding day, which also gave them more
time for portraits afterwards.
The Reception
At the reception they chose to incorporate their Korean heritage by performing a
Paebaek Ceremony. During this ceremony the couple’s relatives were invited to
participate and offer their blessing to the couple. April and Sean wore ceremonial
Korean wedding attire. Their family members each took turns throwing dates and
chestnuts which Sean and April attempted to catch with the bride’s apron. This signifies
the number of children the couple will have, dates being girls and chestnuts for boys.
They were to eat what they have caught later that evening. To end the ceremony the
groom carries the bride around the table to show strength. I loved watching this
ceremony and learning about their culture!
I’ve got to say that their reception had some of the best food I’ve ever tasted. I’m glad
that Savor at River House is also a restaurant so I can go back for the food! The rest of
the evening went smoothly, first dances, cake cutting, and toasts were all so sweet.
Sean’s brother surprised them with a special wedding toast video from Josh Radnor,
who played on their favorite show: How I Met Your Mother. They ended the night with a
sparkler exit! I had so much fun being at their wedding, and wish them a lifetime filled
with happiness!
